How to create a Racing Team?

Well I'm still a kid in the automotive field, I'm 19 studying automotive engineering at the university and want to do something really cool. I'm not talking about the F1, GTR or NASCAR. Lower caliber, like F3, and others. I need someone who have the knowledge and can give me an idea of how to start from low budget racing events to something professional. How those things function? About the money the team itself? I am talking about indy cars or touring car racing. Thanks
